The legend of the Gazing Globe or Gazing Ball as it is sometimes called, dates back to the times of Kings, Queens, and Royal Kingdom’s throughout Europe. During this Victorian period young lads and ladies were not allowed to speak to each other in public so it became common for these young couples to court each other by staring into a “gazing ball”, which would be placed in a public garden. The shiny round ball allowed for the young couple to stand next to each other and gaze into each other’s eyes, even carry on a conversation, without being caught by their unsuspecting family’s.
The gazing ball has been “reflecting the surrounding beauty” in gardens throughout Europe and the United States ever since.
